Live for Today

I have a little question for you. How can all of these following equations be correct?

1 = 1
24 = 1
1,440 = 1
86,400 = 1

No doubt some of you knew the answer straight away. Need a clue?

All of these equations represent the one thing that’s equal for everyone. It’s the one thing that can’t be changed, no matter how good a therapist you are, no matter how good a businessman (or woman) you are, or even how good a magician you are.

Still not got it?

Well, they’re the individual elements that make up one day.

Every day consists of 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds. That’s all anyone gets each day. It doesn’t matter who you are, or what you do, the numbers are the same for everyone.

Almost anything can be improved with the right mindset, attitude to success, motivation and guidance, but time is constant. If you run out, you can’t buy more.

You cant stop it, extend it, or get back the time that’s already past. the only answer is to make the most of what you get!

One of the biggest distractions to having a successful life nowadays is Television.

According to The Sourcebook for Teaching Science, there are some very revealing statistics regarding the TV…

A few good examples are;

  • The average American watches 4 hours of TV per day.
  • 66% of US homes have 3 or more TV sets.
  • 49% of Americans say they watch too much TV.
  • The average American youth spends 900 hours in school, yet watches 1500 hours of TV in the same time!

and finally,

 Millions of Americans are so hooked on television that they fit the criteria for substance abuse as defined in the official psychiatric manual, according to Rutgers University psychologist and TV-Free America board member, Robert Kubey.

Heavy TV viewers exhibit five dependency symptoms–two more than necessary to arrive at a clinical diagnosis of substance abuse. These include: 1) using TV as a sedative; 2) indiscriminate viewing; 3) feeling loss of control while viewing; 4) feeling angry with oneself for watching too much; 5) inability to stop watching; and 6) feeling miserable when kept from watching

Obviously, there are other distractions that drain our valuable time, but surely a good place to start is by reducing our TV habit.

If your days had an extra 2 hours, you’d get an extra month every year (30.5 days), to do the things you enjoy.

Use some of that recovered time to really experience every moment. Being Mindful every day has so many benefits, why wouldn’t want to enjoy them?

Make a decision today to make the most of every minute. Then, at least when the time comes to sleep, you’ll know that you made the most of the day.
